Rancho Cucamonga, CA — On Thursday, June 12, the Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD) welcomed community members to its Lloyd W. Michael Water Treatment Plant for an exclusive evening tour, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the water treatment process and the dedicated professionals who make it happen. This year’s event held special significance, as CVWD continues to celebrate 70 years of service to the Cucamonga Valley.
The evening began at CVWD’s Environmental Learning Center, where more than 1,500 students visit every year to learn about our precious water resource. Tour attendees had the opportunity to visit educational booths hosted by CVWD departments including Operations, Engineering, Customer Service, and Government & Public Affairs, learning how each team contributes to delivering high-quality water and wastewater services.
Following the welcome, CVWD treatment plant operators led guests through the state-of-the-art facility, showcasing the critical steps involved in treating, testing, and monitoring water before it reaches homes and businesses. The Lloyd W. Michael Water Treatment Plant plays an essential role in CVWD’s mission to provide reliable service to over 200,000 customers across Rancho Cucamonga and portions of Fontana, Ontario, Upland, and unincorporated San Bernardino County.
“As we mark 70 years of service, it’s important to reflect on how far we’ve come and continue building strong connections with the community we serve,” said CVWD Board President Randall Reed. “We’re proud to provide opportunities like this tour that highlight the people, processes, and passion behind our mission.”
CVWD invites residents to continue celebrating the District’s 70th anniversary by participating in workshops and educational programs. For more information about CVWD’s history and community engagement opportunities, visit CVWDwater.com or call (855) 654-2893.
